Students with handicaps or chronic diseases

Commissioners for students with handicaps have tasks based on Thuringian legislation and in the Statute of the Jena University of Applied Sciences (§ 3 para. 7 and § 24). Accordingly, the commissioners coordinate the various study offers to handicapped and chronically ill students, represent the interests of those affected within the EAH Jena, and to help them with advice in particular conflicts.

Handicapped students or study applicants should, in any case, contact the commissioner for students with handicaps as early as possible to get advice about the need, kind and scope of any measures for compensating their handicap and about enforcing their rightful claims. Such measures have to be applied for and will be arranged according to each individual case. Possible forms of compensation are as follows:

1. Written supplements to oral examinations for students with impaired hearing or speech defects,
2. Postponement of deadlines for term papers, proctored written tests and examinations, if preparations for
examinations had to be interrupted due to health problems,
3. Special financial arrangements for students with handicaps and/or chronic diseases.
